How To Make A Graduation Cap For Decoration
Graduation is a special time in the life of any student. It is a time to celebrate their accomplishments and to look forward to the future. One of the most iconic symbols of graduation is the graduation cap. If you are a decorator, you can make your own graduation caps for decoration to add a festive touch to any graduation party.
Materials You Will Need:
- Cardboard
- Black fabric
- Glue
- Scissors
- Ruler or Measuring Tape
- Pencil
- Tassel (optional)
- Ribbon (optional)
Instructions:
1. Make the Base of the CapStart by cutting a 12-inch by 12-inch square out of cardboard. This will be the base of the cap. Fold the square in half diagonally to form a triangle. Unfold the triangle and fold it in half the other way to form another triangle. Unfold the triangle and you will have a square with four creases.
2. Cut Out the Top of the CapUse a pencil to trace a 9-inch circle onto the cardboard. Cut out the circle to make the top of the cap.
3. Glue the Top of the Cap to the BaseApply glue to the edges of the top of the cap and center it on the base of the cap. Press down to secure.
4. Cover the Cap with FabricCut a piece of black fabric that is large enough to cover the cap. Apply glue to the underside of the fabric and smooth it over the cap. Trim any excess fabric around the edges.
5. Add a Tassel (Optional)If you want to add a tassel to your cap, cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches long. Fold the yarn in half and tie a knot at the top. Glue the knot to the center of the top of the cap.
6. Add Ribbon (Optional)If you want to add ribbon to your cap, cut two pieces of ribbon, each about 24 inches long. Glue the ends of the ribbon to the inside of the cap, about 2 inches from the edge.
7. Display Your Graduation CapYour graduation cap is now complete! You can display it on a table, hang it on a wall, or use it as part of a centerpiece.
Tips:
- You can use any color or pattern of fabric to cover your cap.
- You can add other embellishments to your cap, such as glitter, sequins, or beads.
- If you are making a graduation cap for a child, you can make it smaller by using a smaller piece of cardboard and fabric.
- Graduation caps are a great way to add a festive touch to any graduation party.
